October 16, 2017

As announced before (see announcement), from 28th to 30th of September the Second Interdisciplinary Symposium on the Biogeography of the Carpathians took place in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) under a title “Ecological and Evolutionary Facets of Biodiversity”.

Michał Ronikier was involved in the Symposium consortium and Organising Committee. Several members of our group attended this meeting (Ela Cieślak, Justyna Nowak, Michał Ronikier, Tomasz Suchan) and presented several talks and posters. For a group like ours, especially interested in the biodiversity and biogeography of the Carpathians, this meeting was a particularly interesting, inspiring and cool experience. This meeting was a second edition of an initiative launched four years ago in Kraków and we are happy to see it maintained and – hopefully – well-established now in the European biogeographical research landscape. Big thanks are due to our Romanian friends for a brilliant organization of this meeting, perfect logistics, very interesting and diversified scientific programme, and finally a great conference dinner and excursion!

On behalf of the organizing committee, we cordially invite all of you interested in the biogeography and biodiversity of the Carpathians and other European mountains to take part in this event!

More information on the conference can be found on the web page of the Symposium.

The references of our contributions can be found in the publication list of our Group. The abstracts of all contributions, published as a special issue of Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai. Biologia, can be found on the web page of the Journal.
